City of Bristol Museum and Art Gallery

  • 26 Apr - 13 July: Mirror, Bead and Thread: A Celebration of Textiles from Gujarat.
    Traditional Indian textiles, collected by Kanchan Malde and supplemented by items from the Gallery's own collections, featuring over 150 pieces of embroidery, appliqué, mirror-work and beadwork from Kathiawar and Saurashtra. Exhibits include furnishings, clothing and accoutrements and animal trappings, and will demonstrate the meeting of traditional and modern ways of life and how contemporary Western fashion has been influenced by traditional Indian design.

  • 26 Apr - 13 July: Kingdoms and Cobras - Paintings from India
    The exhibition of 80 paintings, from the 16th century Mughal court and from the Rajput kingdoms of the Himalayan foothills, will be divided into five themes: Mythology, Love, Entertainment, Dress and Illustrations from an Islamic manuscript.

    The World in Blue and White, ceramics from around the world from 1320 to 1820, loaned by members of the Society.
